You are already doing a good job and it doesn’t have to be so hard.
Specialty care for parents.
Please note, I provide psychotherapy services to adults aged 18+ on a wide variety of issues as well as couples. Please see my page on Therapeutic Approach or Couples therapy for more information if you are not looking for specialty care for parents.
Therapy for those Currently Contemplating Parenthood, Parenting, Expecting, or Grieving
Specialty Perinatal and Parenting experience and training. Telehealth and babes-in-arms welcome:
I have my certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) and several years experience working in an interdisciplinary Parental Behavioral Health program in a medical setting with parents experiencing postpartum mood disorders and other types of ongoing parenting concerns.
I have worked with families throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and with children up to age 18 to help them identify what is going well and what they want to change or get more help with. I have attended, and continue to attend, specialty trainings to learn how to specifically support parents in their parenting journey, regardless of what that has looked like for them.
As a parent, I continue to learn, grow, laugh at myself, and frustrate myself with trying to put this knowledge into action.
The Unexpected, Loss, and Grief:
If you have experiences with medical complications, NICU stays, infertility, IVF, or unexpected alternative family building, I want to hear what this has been like for you. These are unique experiences that deserve support and care to find and maintain your stable ground in what can be a tumultuous experience.
If you have lived through miscarriage, termination for medical reasons, un-desired abortion, stillbirth, having your baby die, or losing a baby or your desired family through another path, I am so sorry. You and your family don’t have to go through these experiences alone. You can tell the story of your loss and your grief in whatever way it is showing up for you. There is as much space and time as you need for this, it is always welcome. There is also room to explore how you will continue forward in your life with this grief, and what that will look like.
Please reach out and let me know where you are in your journey.
